Quantum Artificial Intelligence (Quantum AI or QAI) is an emerging interdisciplinary field at the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. It explores how quantum computers can enhance AI algorithms and, conversely, how AI techniques can assist in building and operating quantum computing devices. In this article, we survey the foundations and recent advances of Quantum AI. We review the basics of quantum computing and classical machine learning, describe how they can be integrated (e.g.\ quantum machine learning algorithms), and discuss current research trends, applications, and challenges. We include mathematical formulations of quantum data representations and algorithms, and reference the latest academic research in this area. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive overview suitable for industry professionals and researchers interested in the state of the art of Quantum AI.
